About the Journal

Jurnal Penelitian Humaniora  ·  Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta
Humanity, read closely.
An open-access journal for research on culture, language, the arts, and society — the questions about being human that are asked outside the classroom as much as inside it.

Jurnal Penelitian Humaniora publishes research articles that are not about education but about humanity: how people make meaning, speak, create, remember, and live together. It is published by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, and every article is free for anyone to read.

Four fields of inquiry
01
Traditions & practices
Culture
Heritage, customs, rituals, identity, history, and the everyday practices through which communities carry their world forward.
02
Words & meaning
Language
Linguistics, literature, discourse, translation, and the ways language shapes thought, power, and belonging.
03
Making & expression
Arts
The visual, performing, and literary arts, their histories, their criticism, and the conditions in which they are made.
04
People & society
Social Sciences
Society, behaviour, institutions, and change: research on how humans organise, cooperate, and disagree.
