Focus And Scope
Jurnal Ilmiah WUNY is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta that focuses on the intersection of Digital Pedagogy and Cultural Preservation. The journal publishes theoretical and empirical research from multidisciplinary perspectives, with the primary aim of advancing scholarly discourse on how digital technologies can be harnessed to sustain, revitalize, and transmit Indonesia's rich and diverse cultural heritage across generations.
The journal welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and evidence-based case studies addressing, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:
- Digital Platforms for Cultural Learning — Development, implementation, and evaluation of digital platforms, e-learning systems, and mobile applications designed to facilitate the learning and dissemination of traditional arts, languages, customs, and cultural practices.
- Gamification and Game-Based Learning for Heritage Preservation — Application of gamification strategies and serious game design in the context of regional language revitalization, folklore documentation, and heritage literacy among younger generations.
- Immersive Technologies in Cultural Education — Use of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) in teaching local history, archaeology, traditional architecture, and other tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
- Social Media and Digital Communication as Cultural Education Tools — Exploration of social media platforms, digital storytelling, and content creation ecosystems as vehicles for cultural education, particularly targeting Generation Z and digital-native communities.
- Integration of Modern Pedagogy with Indigenous Knowledge Systems — Innovative pedagogical approaches that bridge contemporary educational technology with local wisdom (kearifan lokal), traditional ecological knowledge, and community-based cultural practices.
- Intergenerational Knowledge Transfer through Technology — Studies examining how digital tools support the transmission of cultural values, skills, and knowledge between older knowledge-holders and younger generations within Indonesia's multicultural society.
- Policy and Curriculum Development for Digital Cultural Education — Research on institutional frameworks, curriculum design, and policy recommendations that integrate cultural preservation goals into formal and non-formal digital education settings.
Jurnal Ilmiah WUNY particularly encourages submissions that engage with Indonesia's diverse ethnic, linguistic, and artistic heritage while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
