Plagiarism Policy
JPPM (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat) is committed to upholding academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. This policy sets out the originality expected of every submission, how manuscripts are screened for similarity, and how the editorial team responds when plagiarism is suspected or identified.
At a glance. Every manuscript is screened for similarity during the initial editorial assessment and, when necessary, before publication. A similarity index of 20% or lower is recommended as the maximum acceptable threshold, subject to the journal’s editorial policy. The editorial team evaluates the extent, sources, and context of identified similarities before making any decision. Depending on severity, outcomes range from revision to rejection, and, after publication, from a correction notice to retraction.
Plagiarism policy
All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and free from plagiarism.
Authors are required to appropriately acknowledge all sources through accurate citations and references. This includes:
- ideas;
- research findings;
- data;
- previously published works.
Authors bear full responsibility for ensuring the originality and integrity of their manuscripts.
- All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using similarity detection software, such as Turnitin, during the initial editorial assessment and, when necessary, before publication.
- A similarity index of 20% or lower is recommended as the maximum acceptable threshold, subject to the journal’s editorial policy.
- Similarity scores are not the sole basis for determining plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the extent, sources, and context of identified similarities before making editorial decisions.
If potential plagiarism is detected by editors, reviewers, or editorial staff at any stage of the publication process, including manuscript submission, peer review, copyediting, or proofreading, the editorial team will investigate the issue in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.
3.1 Minor instances
For minor instances, such as insufficient paraphrasing, inaccurate citations, or improper acknowledgment of sources, authors may be required to revise their manuscripts and provide appropriate references.
3.2 Substantial plagiarism
In cases of substantial plagiarism or serious violations of academic integrity, the manuscript may be rejected.
3.3 Plagiarism identified after publication
If plagiarism is identified after publication, JPPM may take appropriate corrective measures, including publishing a correction notice or retracting the article, depending on the severity of the violation. Where necessary, the journal may also notify the authors’ affiliated institutions.
3.4 Plagiarism checks by authors
Authors are encouraged to conduct plagiarism checks before submitting their manuscripts. However, the use of similarity detection software does not eliminate the authors’ responsibility to ensure the originality and ethical integrity of their scholarly work.
By submitting a manuscript to JPPM (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat), authors declare that their work is original, has not been plagiarized, and appropriately acknowledges all sources used in the research and manuscript preparation.
Authors may be required to provide a signed statement of originality or plagiarism-free declaration as a supplementary document through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS), in accordance with the journal’s submission requirements.
