Authorship Policies

JPPM (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat) is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the intellectual contributions and responsibilities of individuals involved in scholarly research. The journal’s authorship policy is informed by the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognised principles of responsible authorship.

At a glance. Authorship is granted only to individuals who meet all of the criteria in Section 01. Those who do not meet them are acknowledged rather than listed as authors. All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work, and by submitting a manuscript the corresponding author confirms that every listed author meets the criteria and has approved the submission.

Authorship policy

01Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be granted only to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  1. They have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of findings.
  2. They have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising its substantive intellectual content.
  3. They have reviewed and approved the final version submitted for publication.
  4. They agree to be accountable for their contributions and to cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of the work.

Individuals who do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged appropriately rather than listed as authors.

02Author Contributions
  • Authors must accurately disclose their individual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
  • JPPM encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), including roles such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, formal analysis, data curation, writing, supervision, and project administration.
  • Contribution statements must reflect actual work performed and must be approved by all authors.
03Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • coordinating communication between the authors and the journal;
  • ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors;
  • obtaining approval from all authors before manuscript submission;
  • providing accurate author information and required declarations;
  • coordinating responses to editorial and reviewer comments;
  • informing all co-authors of significant editorial decisions.

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work.

04Changes in Authorship
  • Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and documented agreement from all affected authors.
  • Changes must be approved by the Editorial Board before implementation.
  • Authorship changes after publication will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and may require a formal correction notice.
05Unacceptable Authorship Practices

JPPM does not permit:

  • gift or honorary authorship;
  • ghost authorship;
  • inclusion of individuals without their knowledge or consent;
  • exclusion of individuals who meet the authorship criteria;
  • misrepresentation of author contributions or affiliations.
06Use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Generative artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors, because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical accountability of scholarly work.
  • Human authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including material developed with AI assistance.
  • Any use of generative AI must be disclosed in accordance with the journal’s applicable Generative AI Policy.
07Authorship Disputes
  • Authorship disputes should preferably be resolved among the contributors and their institutions.
  • Where necessary, the Editorial Board may request supporting documentation, suspend manuscript processing, or refer unresolved disputes to the relevant institutions.
  • The journal does not independently determine the ownership of disputed intellectual contributions.
08Author Declaration

By submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors satisfy the authorship criteria, have approved the manuscript, and agree to its submission and potential publication in JPPM.
