02Rights of authors▾
—  Deposit any version (preprint, accepted manuscript, or published PDF) in a repository, on a personal website, or on an academic network, with no embargo, citing the published article and its DOI.
—  Reuse the article in teaching, theses, books, and later works, with a citation.
—  Keep the copyright and grant permission for commercial reuse.
—  See the Open Access Policy and the Archiving Policy.
03Responsibilities of authors▾
—  Submit only work that is their own, and that they have the right to publish. All co-authors agree to the licence.
—  Cite every source of ideas, words, data, and images. Plagiarism, including translation plagiarism and undisclosed reuse of one’s own published text, is not accepted. See the Plagiarism Policy.
—  Obtain written permission to reproduce figures, tables, photographs, maps, or long quotations from other works, and state the source and permission in the caption. Material that is not under CC BY-SA 4.0 is marked as such.
—  Respect the rights of research participants and communities: obtain consent for photographs, recordings, and quotations that could identify people, and do not publish confidential documents without permission. See the Ethical Clearance Statement.
—  Do not present content produced by generative AI as their own work, and disclose any use. See the Generative AI Policy.
04Reviewers and editors▾
—  Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers and editors do not use, share, or cite unpublished material, and do not upload it to generative AI tools.
—  Reviewers and editors do not use ideas from a manuscript in their own work without the authors’ written consent.
05Reuse by readers▾
Readers may share and adapt articles for any purpose, with credit to the authors and the journal, and adapted works must use the same licence. Commercial reuse needs the written permission of the copyright holder: the authors, through the Contact page.
06Infringement▾
—  Anyone who believes that material in the journal infringes their rights can write to the Contact page, giving the article, the material, and evidence of their rights.
—  The editors assess the claim, contact the authors, and, where infringement is confirmed, correct the article or retract it. See Correction, Retraction and Withdrawal.
—  Plagiarism and other infringement found before publication are handled under the Research Misconduct policy.
