As a national hero,Ki Hajar Dewantara has contributed
to many fields such
as culture, education, the state system,
politics, and art. The changes
he has made on his name from
Raden Mas Suwardi Suryaningrat into Suwardi Suryaningrat and
finally into
Ki Hajar Dewantara shows how greatly he has
sacrificed in his struggle for his country's independence and
development.
Particularly
in the educational field, through Taman Siswa,
Ki Hajar Dewantara has given very great contributions to the
development ofIndonesian human resources. He
has implanted
as an investment the basic characteristics of modem education
that he has unearthed from the treasury
of his country's tradi
. tions in combination with methods and theories originating.
