Author Guidelines

THE MANUSCRIPTS

The manuscript should be an original research paper that sufficiently contributes novelty to science education. Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically by using the Journal of Science Education Research (J. Sc. Edu. Research) online submission procedure. The corresponding author should also provide a statement that the manuscript is not concurrently being under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Editors will ignore submissions that do not follow these procedures.

GENERAL GUIDELINE FOR WRITING OF THE MANUSCRIPTS

  1. The manuscript is an original research manuscript relating to the development of science and technology in the field of science learning.
  2. Manuscript accepted is written in English
  3. The length of the manuscript is approximately 4 - 12 pages (or approximately 7000 words), written in A4 paper format, margins: top 1,9 cm; left 1,9 cm; right 1,9 cm; bottom 1,27 cm, two columns (except for abstract, figure or table whose size cannot be reduced due to its readability), justified, single-spaced.
  4. Manuscript comprises five main headings: Introduction; Research Method; Result and Discussion; Conclusions, and References. Detailed guideline to develop manuscript can be check in the template.
  5. The title of the manuscript must be as brief as possible, and must represent the content of the manuscript.
  6. Authors’ names are written below the tittle, followed by authors’ affiliation and e-mail address.
  7. Abstract is written in English, as a representation of the manuscript. The abstract should not exceed 250 words for each language format, written narratively comprising aims/objectives, method, and findings of the research/article.
  8. Keywords: words or phrases which are important, specific, or representative to the article.
  9. APA style is used as a reference in citation, references, and writing format.
  10. The references of the article are in the form of journals and non-journals which are published in the last 10 years. 
  11. To maintain the consistency in how to refer and cite, you should use the Reference Manager application, such as Zotero, Mendeley, or other paid applications. 
  12. The manuscript should be written in the following TEMPLATE (download).
  13. The manuscript must be in *.doc or *.rtf , and sent to the journal system via online submission by creating account in this Open Journal System (OJS)
  14. All Author(s)' names and identity (es) must be completely embedded in the form filled in by the corresponding author: email; affiliation; and each author's short biography (in the column of 'Bio Statement'). [If the manuscript is written by two or more authors, please click 'Add Author' in the 3rd step of 'ENTER METADATA' in the submission process and then enter each author's data.]
  15. All correspondences, information and decisions for the submitted manuscripts are conducted through email written in the manuscript and/or the emails used for the submission. The status of the manuscript can be checked in the OJS by logging in to the journal.

STUCTURE OF THE MANUSCRIPTS
  1. Title. The title should be clear and informative, and not more than 18 words.
  2. Author's names and institutions. The author's names should be accompanied by the author's institutions and email addresses, without any academic title. For a joint paper, one of the authors should be notified as to the corresponding author.
  3. Abstract and keywords. The abstract should be less than 250 words. The abstract contains a clear elaboration of the research purpose, method, and result. Please provide the abstract in both English and Indonesian versions. The keywords should be of 3 to 5 words or phrases.
  4. Introduction. This section explains the background of the study, a review of the previous researches in the area, and aims of the manuscripts. Importantly it should also show the significance and novelty of the research.
  5. Research Methods. This section describes the appropriate tools of analysis along with the data and their sources.
  6. Results and Discussion. This section explains the results of the study. It should be presented clearly and concisely. Author(s) should explore the novelty or the contribution of the work to the science education literature.
  7. Conclusion. This section concludes and provides policy implications, if any, of the study. The conclusion(s) should be at the same order with ones discussed in the body of the manuscript.
  8. References. This section lists only the papers, books, or other types of publications referred to in the body of the manuscript.

TABLES AND FIGURES

Tables and figures should be presented as follows:

  1. The name of tables and figures should follow a numbering system (Arabic numbering system). The title of the tables and figures are placed at the top and the bottom respectively.
  2. The tables and figures should provide the source of information, if any, at the bottom. 
  3. Any table should contain only heading and contents. The table contains row lines only without column lines. Note(s) and source(s) should be included underneath the table where appropriate. 

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Acknowledgment, if any, should be written as the foot-note of the manuscript's title.

SUBJECT AND AUTHOR INDEX

The authors should provide an index of the subject, namely the specific terms in the manuscript. The authors should also provide the index of authors, namely the key authors of papers referred to in the manuscript. Please write the family name followed by the given name

CITATION

Citation in the text body should be written using the family name and years of publication. Example:

  1. Prasetyo (2019) suggests that the objective of depreciation is ....
  2. Inflation targeting would be sufficient (Kuswanto, 2020).
  3. The definition of contagion is ... (Wilujeng, 2018; Senam, 2019).
  4. The Authors are recommended to use Mendeley Reference software.

REFERENCES

The manuscript is expected to involve approximately 20-25 primary and up-to-date references to assert high-quality contributions to knowledge development. Citations and references must strictly follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style.  References should include only works that are cited within the text of the manuscript.  Consulting the APA style manual (http://www.apastyle.org/pubmanual.html) is strongly recommended for completing manuscript submissions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
