Diksi is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research-based and conceptual articles on languages, literature, and their teaching. It provides a forum for scholars, teachers, and practitioners in Indonesia and beyond to share research that advances linguistic and literary scholarship and the teaching of language and literature.

The journal was first published in January 1993 by Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and is managed by the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture. It is accredited SINTA 2 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Decree No. 79/E/KPT/2023, valid 2022–2026).

Aims

  • To disseminate high-quality research and conceptual thinking on languages, literature, and their teaching.
  • To bring research from Indonesia and the region into dialogue with international scholarship.
  • To connect research with the practice of language and literature education in schools, universities, and communities.
  • To provide an open, rigorous, and ethical forum for researchers, lecturers, and teachers.

Focus and Scope

The journal welcomes contributions on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Languages: linguistics, applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, translation, and regional languages.
  • Literature: literary criticism and theory, literary history, comparative literature, oral and regional literature, children’s literature, and literature in digital media.
  • Teaching: language and literature education, curriculum and materials, assessment, teacher education, and technology in language learning.

Article Types

  • Research articles: reports of original empirical research (case studies, text- or corpus-based studies, literary studies, and classroom or educational research).
  • Conceptual articles: theoretical arguments or critical syntheses grounded in current literature.

All manuscripts must be written in English and prepared with the journal’s templates (see the Author Guidelines).

Readership

Researchers and lecturers in linguistics, literature, and language education; teachers of language and literature; translators; and practitioners in culture and the creative industries.

Peer Review

Every manuscript is checked for similarity and for fit with the scope before review. Manuscripts that pass are reviewed by at least two peer reviewers, who assess novelty, objectivity, method, scientific impact, conclusions, and references. The reviewers’ comments are sent to the corresponding author, and the suggested decision is evaluated in an editorial board meeting before the editor sends the final decision. See the Peer Review Process for details.

Open Access Policy

Diksi provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles are free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to, without subscription or registration, from the moment of publication.
