EDUCATION OF LAW JOURNAL
Editorial Decisions
Policy
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision after an editorial board meeting that weighs the recommendations of the reviewers. Decisions are based on the scholarly quality, importance, and originality of the work. They are not affected by the identity or standing of the authors, or by any payment. See the Peer Review Process and Editorial Procedures.
Possible decisions
| Accepted as is | The manuscript is accepted as submitted and goes to production. |
| Accepted with minor revisions | The manuscript is accepted if the authors make small changes. The editors check the changes. |
| Accepted with major revisions | Publication depends on the authors making the requested changes. The revision is usually reviewed again. |
| Resubmit | A conditional rejection. The manuscript may be reconsidered after major changes, as a new round of review. |
| Rejected | The manuscript is not suitable for the journal and is not reconsidered, even after revision. |
Revising a manuscript
- Make the changes in the revised file and, with a response letter, answer each point of the editor and the reviewers.
- If you disagree with a comment, explain why with reasons and evidence.
- Keep the revised file anonymous, as for the first submission.
- Upload the revision through the website, in the same submission, within one month of the decision.
After acceptance
Accepted manuscripts go to copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading before publication. Authors are asked to check and return the proofs within 48 hours. Changes at this stage are limited to errors.
If you disagree with a decision
See Editorial Appeals.
