Informasi Journal first published in 1970 under the management of Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics, Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (IKIP) Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Initially, it aimed to publish research in the field of social sciences especially from the perspective of education. From the mid 1980’s to the early 1990’s, the journal scope focused on the studies of Indonesia-based social sciences education under an editorial team led by Ahmad Syafii Maarif and Husain Haikal. Since the institution changed its status from The Institute for Teaching and Educational Sciences to a state university namely Univeristas Negeri Yogyakarta (State University of Yogyakarta), the Informasi journal has covered a wider scope to accept any research in the disciplines of social sciences. The journal experienced a year of vacuum in 2014 until it found a new house in the Department of Communication Sciences to become a scholarly journal which publishes research in the area of communication sciences and media studies. The new Informasi journal published fully online in June 2015. In the next year, the journal was indexed by DOAJ, EBSCO, Copernicus, and several other local indexing bodies. Recently, the journal received its first accreditation from the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education in 2018. INFORMASI Volume. 46. No. 1. Juni 2016-Volume. 47. No. 2. Desember 2017 is accredited at rank Sinta 4 by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia based on Decree (SK) No. 21/E/KPT/2018. for Volume. 48. No. 1. Juni 2018-Volume. 52. No. 2. 2022 INFORMASI accredited at rank Sinta 3 by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia based on Decree (SK) Nomor: 30/E/KPT/2018. Informasi with ISSN (p) 0126-0650 and ISSN (e) 2502-3837 has been accredited at SINTA 2 by Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and High Education decision Number 36/E/KPT/2019, Vol. 49 (1) 2019- Vol 54 (2) 2023. Since 2021 Informasi use one column in the article layout. The journal continues to become a reputable journal and aims to be next indexed in Scopus and Web of Sciences.
