Caecilia Peni Suryaningtyas, SMP Pangudi Luhur 1 Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Abstract

Developing a mathematics learning kit using PMRI approach to increase problem-solving ability and mathematics communications

Abstract

This research aimed to produce mathematics learning kit with the PMRI approach, effective and practical to increase the ability of problem-solving and mathematics communications. This research was development research with the model 4-D by Thiagarajan, consist of four development steps including define, design, develop and disseminate. The kit development started from phase analyzing the early-last, the student analysis, analyze the item analysis and specification of study target, media election, format election, design product, test the expert and practitioner, limited test-drive limited and test-drive field. The research instrument used consisted of the sheet validation, sheets of observation of executing study, sheet of student assessment, assessment sheet learning and test of the result of learning. This research was executed in SMP N 6 Yogyakarta, with the subjects 34 students of class VIIE SMP. The validation indicates the kits developed was appropriate to use with the good category. The result of test-driving indicates that the kit developed is effective and practical to improve the ability of problem-solving and communications of mathematics. In general, this study has shown that the developed product was reliable to be used as they fulfill the valid, practical and effectiveness aspects.
