Abstract

The market demand for orchids is increasing every year. However, it is not followed by an increase in orchid production in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of variations in the combination of the concentration of growth regulators 2,4-D + BAP and the position of the nodes on the induction of the axillary shoots of Dendrobium sp. orchids. In vitro so that it is possible to know the composition of the best medium in orchids to increase orchid production in Indonesia. This study used two factors in the treatment, namely: a combination of the concentration of growth regulators (ZPT) 2,4-D + BAP and the position of the nodes (top, middle, bottom). Axillary bud growth is measured based on bud emergence, bud growth, leaf growth, and root growth. The results showed that the addition of  a combination of 1 ppm 2,4-D + 2 ppm BAP in the NP + AK medium was the best combination of ZPT concentrations because it was able to induce the fastest bud emergence time, number of buds, bud diameter, wet weight, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, number of roots, and root length was the best. The combination of a concentration of 1.5 ppm 2,4-D + 1 ppm BAP is able to produce the best bud diameter. The best node position is the middle node position. The results also showed that there was no interaction between ZPT combination variation and node position on bud height parameters.
