Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

Author Guidelines

1. Jurnal Sains Dasar publishes scientific studies and research on basic sciences that contribute to the understanding, development of scientific theories and concepts, as well as its application in over the world.
2. Article may be in Indonesia or in English but it is preferable for editor to have the English version. The article must be original, in the sense of it has been never considered to publish in another journal. Manuscript has never also been presented in a forum, conference or seminar.
3. Article are submitted online in the journal site (http://journal.uny.ac.id/index.php/jsd). All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, takes place by e-mail removing the need for a paper trail.
4. Referees: Please submit, with the manuscript, the names and addresses of 3 potential referees. This is particularly important when the manuscript deals with a highly specialized subject.
5. The article received by editor will be distributed to experts/reviewers selected by the editor. After review process, the decision may vary from --accepted without revision, accepted by editor revision, accepted by author revision, or rejected--. Article will not be returned to the author unless it is requested by the author.
6. Article should be written using word processing software. It is important that the file is saved in the native format of the word processor used. The text should be in double-column format following the article template. Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible. Most formatting codes will be removed and replaced on processing the article. In particular, do not use the word processor's options to justify text or to hyphenate words. However, do use bold face, italics, subscripts, superscripts etc. When preparing tables, if you are using a table grid, use only one grid for each individual table and not a grid for each row. If no grid is used, use tabs, not spaces, to align columns. Note that source files of figures, tables and text graphics will be required whether or not you embed your figures in the text.

9. Article structure
   1. Subdivision - numbered sections: divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ...), 1.2, etc. (the abstract is not included in section numbering). Use this numbering also for internal cross-referencing: do not just refer to 'the text'. Any subsection may be given a brief heading. Each heading should appear on its own separate line.
   2. Introduction: state the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results. Provide the road map of the article and use gap analysis to show the novelty and the originality of the article.
   3. Materials and methods: state the main used materials and provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference: only relevant modifications should be described.
   4. Theory/calculation if needed: a theory section should extend, not repeat, the background to the article already dealt with in the Introduction and lay the foundation for further work. In contrast, a calculation section represents a practical development from a theoretical basis.
   5. Results: should be clear and concise.
   6. Discussion: should explore the significance results of the work, not repeat them. A combined Results and Discussion section is often appropriate. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.
   7. Conclusions: the main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section.
   8. Appendices: if there is more than one appendix, they should be identified as A, B, etc. Formulae and equations in appendices should be given separate numbering: Eq. (A.1), Eq. (A.2), etc.; in a subsequent appendix, Eq. (B.1) and so on. Similarly for tables and figures: Table A.1; Fig. A.1, etc.
10. Article should be written systematically following these rules:
    1. Title: Concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.
    2. Name of Author: name of author/s is/are located under the tittle; author may be individual or in a team.
    3. Author’s affiliatin: Present the authors' affiliation (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the detail name of each affiliation (such as department, faculty, and university names), including the country name.
    4. Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. Ensure that the e-mail address is given and that contact details are kept up to date by the corresponding author.
    5. Abstract: a concise and factual abstract is required. It should written in Indonesia and English ranges from 100 - 200 words in length. It consists of a single paragraph.
    6. Keywords:  Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 5 keywords, avoiding general, plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible.
    7. The body of the article follow the article structure as described above.
    8. Manuscript may be in Indonesian or English but it is preferable for the editor to receive in English mode. The length of the manuscript should not more than 15 pages, A4 size paper, typed 1 space, in a Microsoft Word 97 or above, type of font Times New Roman, font size 11.
    9. Bibliography: Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Any references cited in the abstract must be given in full. Provide minimal 15 references with minimal 80% of the cited references are journals which published in the last 10 years. Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list, but may be mentioned in the text. If these references are included in the reference list they should follow the standard reference style of the journal and should include a substitution of the publication date with either 'Unpublished results' or 'Personal communication'. Citation in text Citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has been accepted for publication. Web references As a minimum, the full URL should be given and the date when the reference was last accessed. Any further information, if known (DOI, author names, dates, reference to a source publication, etc.), should also be given. Web references can be listed separately (e.g., after the reference list) under a different heading if desired, or can be included in the reference list. Reference style Text: Indicate references by number(s) in square brackets in line with the text. The actual authors can be referred to, but the reference number(s) must always be given. Example: '..... as demonstrated [3,6]. Barnaby and Jones [8] obtained a different result ....'

List: Number the references (numbers in square brackets) in the list in the order in which they appear in the text. Examples:

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. The submission file is in LibreOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Publication Cost (APC): 500000.00 (IDR)
Articles submitted after the Decree of Dean of FMIPA UNY dated May 1, 2022, will be subject to an Article Processing Costs (APC) if the paper is accepted for publication.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
