Literasi media sosial masyarakat milenial dalam perspektif teori prosesing informasi Gagne

Abstract

Salah satu dampak positif globalisasi adalah pesatnya perkembangan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) yang disinyalir akan membantu mempermudah dan mempercepat  kerja manusia. Derasnya perkembangan TIK yang masuk ke setiap negara tidak mampu dibendung lagi oleh masyarakat, baik masyarakat dalam kondisi siap maupun belum siap menerima gempuran teknologi tersebut, situasi memaksa masyarakat untuk tetap menerima perkembangan tersebut. Melimpahnya sumber informasi terutama yang beredar melalui media sosial seringkali membuat masyarakat penggunanya terbuai dan mudah sekali terprovokasi atas isi dari berita-berita yang beredar tersebut. Media sosial berhasil mengalahkan media konvensional (mainstream) berupa buku teks dan naskah informasi lainnya. Begitu banyaknya informasi yang keluar masuk, tidak lagi memberi kesempatan pada masyarakat untuk menelaah dan mengendapkan informasi-informasi tersebut agar menjadi sebuah pembelajaran yang bermanfaat dan berguna. Sejauh ini dampak yang muncul dan dirasakan oleh masyarakat pengguna yang belum siap terhadap perkembangan TIK tersebut adalah munculnya hoax (berita yang belum tentu kebenarannya) yang menjangkiti seluruh lapisan masyarakat baik generasi muda maupun generasi tua. Tulisan ini akan mencoba melihat perkembangan literasi media sosial yang terjadi di Indonesia dengan menggunakan perspektif teori prosesing informasi Gagne.

Abstract

One of the positive effects of globalization is the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which is allegedly going to help simplify and accelerate human work. The rapid development of ICT entering every country cannot be dammed by the community, both the people are ready or not ready to accept the onslaught of technology, the situation forces the community to continue to accept these developments. The abundance of information sources especially those circulating through social media often leaves the user community lulled and easily provoked by the contents of the news circulating. Social media defeated conventional (mainstream) media in the form of textbooks and other information manuscripts. So much information comes in and out, no longer gives the opportunity for the public to examine and precipitate the information so that it becomes useful and useful learning. So far the impact that appears and is felt by the user community who are not ready for the development of ICT is the emergence of hoaxes (news that is not necessarily true) that affects all levels of society both the younger generation and the older generation. This paper will try to see the development of social media literacy that is happening in Indonesia by using the perspective of Gagne's information processing theory.
