Author Guidelines

Journal of Applied Mechanical Engineering Innovation (JAMEI) publishes original research articles and review articles in the field of mechanical engineering, applied mechanical engineering, manufacturing, materials, energy, automotive, design, maintenance, and other related engineering innovation topics.

Manuscripts submitted to JAMEI must be original, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal. Authors are required to prepare the manuscript according to the JAMEI article template and submit it through the Open Journal System (OJS).

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to ensure that the manuscript complies with the following requirements. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

  • The manuscript is original and has not been previously published or submitted to another journal.
  • The manuscript is written in clear and standard English.
  • The manuscript follows the JAMEI article template.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format, preferably .doc or .docx.
  • The manuscript uses single spacing, 12 pt font size, and follows the formatting requirements of the JAMEI template.
  • All figures, tables, and equations are placed within the text at appropriate points, not at the end of the manuscript.
  • All references cited in the text are listed in the References section, and all references in the list are cited in the text.
  • The references follow the IEEE citation style.
  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • If the manuscript is submitted to a peer-reviewed section, the instructions for ensuring a blind review must be followed.

Manuscript Template

Authors must prepare the manuscript using the JAMEI article template. The template provides the required format for title, author names, affiliations, abstract, keywords, main text, tables, figures, equations, conclusion, acknowledgements, conflict of interest, and references.

General Manuscript Format

  • The manuscript must be written in English.
  • The manuscript should be prepared on A4 paper.
  • The margin should be 2.5 cm for the left and top margins, and 2 cm for the right and bottom margins.
  • The manuscript should be written in Microsoft Word using single spacing.
  • The main text should use 12 pt font size.
  • The manuscript should generally be between 6 and 20 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
  • The manuscript must follow the structure and style provided in the JAMEI article template.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts submitted to JAMEI should generally be arranged in the following order:

  1. Title
  2. Author names
  3. Author affiliations
  4. Corresponding author email
  5. Abstract
  6. Keywords
  7. Introduction
  8. Method
  9. Results and Discussion
  10. Conclusion
  11. Acknowledgements, if any
  12. Conflicts of Interest
  13. References

Title

The title should be clear, concise, informative, and accurately represent the content of the manuscript. The title should avoid uncommon abbreviations and should not be overly long. In the JAMEI template, the title is written in 14 pt bold font.

Author Names and Affiliations

Author names must be written without academic titles or professional positions such as Prof., Dr., or Ir. The author affiliations should include the department or study program, faculty, institution or university, and country.

The corresponding author must be clearly indicated with an email address. In the JAMEI template, author names are written in 12 pt font, while affiliations and corresponding author information are written in 11 pt italic font.

Abstract

The abstract should be clear, concise, informative, and self-contained. It should briefly present the background or problem, objective, method, main findings, and conclusion of the study.

The abstract must not exceed 250 words. References should generally be avoided in the abstract. If abbreviations are used, they must be defined at their first mention.

Keywords

Authors should provide up to 5 keywords. Keywords should be specific, relevant, and useful for indexing and abstracting services. Keywords should preferably not simply repeat words already used in the title.

Introduction

The Introduction should provide a clear background of the study, a statement of the research problem, relevant and current literature, the proposed approach or solution, and the novelty or innovation of the research.

The Introduction should end with a clear statement of the research objective. It is recommended that the Introduction be written in approximately 3 to 6 paragraphs and should be understandable to readers from related scientific and engineering disciplines.

Method

The Method section should describe the research chronologically and clearly. This section may include research design, materials, equipment, experimental procedures, data collection techniques, data analysis methods, simulation procedures, algorithms, pseudocode, or other relevant research procedures.

The method should be described in sufficient detail so that the research can be understood and, when appropriate, reproduced by other researchers. Established methods should be supported by relevant references.

Results and Discussion

The Results and Discussion section presents the findings of the research and provides a comprehensive discussion of their meaning, significance, and relationship to previous studies.

Results may be presented using text, tables, figures, graphs, or other appropriate forms. Authors should avoid duplicating the same data in both tables and figures. The discussion should explain the interpretation of the results, compare them with previous studies, and highlight the contribution or novelty of the research.

Tables

Tables must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals, such as Table 1, Table 2, and so on. The table title should be placed above the table. Tables should be cited in the text in consecutive order.

Tables should be submitted as editable text, not as images. Authors should avoid using vertical lines and excessive shading. Any table notes or sources should be placed below the table when necessary.

Figures

Figures must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals, such as Figure 1, Figure 2, and so on. The figure caption should be placed below the figure. Figures must be cited in the text in consecutive order.

Figures must be clear, readable, and of sufficient quality. Authors should avoid crowded figures, use appropriate axes, ensure that symbols and data sets are clearly distinguishable, and use consistent lettering and sizing. If a figure has been published elsewhere, authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder when required.

Equations

Equations should be prepared using Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType and should not be inserted as images. Equations must be centered and numbered consecutively using numbers in parentheses, such as (1), (2), and so on. Equation numbers should be placed on the right side.

All variables and symbols used in equations must be clearly defined in the text. Authors should ensure that mathematical symbols are typed accurately and consistently.

Units, Abbreviations, and Symbols

Authors should use standard international units and define all abbreviations, symbols, and non-standard terms at their first mention in the manuscript. Abbreviations should be used consistently throughout the manuscript.

Conclusion

The Conclusion should briefly and clearly present the answer to the research problem or objective. It should summarize the main findings, explain their implications, and, when appropriate, provide suggestions for future research.

The Conclusion should be written in paragraph form and should not merely repeat the abstract or list the results.

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements are optional. Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, funding agencies, laboratories, or other parties that contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must declare any financial, institutional, personal, or other conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation. If there is no conflict of interest, authors should include the following statement:

The authors declare no conflict of interest.

References

Citations and references must follow the IEEE style. Citations in the text should be written using numbers in square brackets, such as [1], [2], and so on, according to the order of appearance in the manuscript.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency in citations and reference formatting.

References should be relevant, up-to-date, and primarily taken from reputable scholarly sources. Authors are encouraged to use recent journal articles, proceedings, books, and other reliable academic sources. Excessive self-citation and irrelevant references should be avoided.

Online Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted through the JAMEI Open Journal System. Authors who do not have an account must register first. Authors who already have an account may log in and start the submission process.

During submission, the corresponding author must ensure that all author metadata are entered correctly, including author names, email addresses, affiliations, and other required information.

Authors should follow all steps in the OJS submission process and upload the manuscript file according to the journal requirements.

Final Decision

After the peer review and editorial evaluation process, the final decision regarding the manuscript may be one of the following:

  • Accepted
  • Accepted with minor revisions
  • Accepted with major revisions
  • Rejected

Authors will be informed of the editorial decision through the OJS system.
