Abstract

An artifact is an object made by man and assumed
to possess symbolic and esthetic values. An artifact
comes into existence through a concept of creation
and based on an esthetic aspect.
Artifacts can be used as educational media for
certain teaching materials. They can be in the form of
hardware (e.g., temples) and software (e.g., paintings).
Non formal and formal approaches can be used
to analyze artifacts so that a comprehensive understanding
is obtained. Such a combined use of approaches is
also multidimensional and structural in nature so that
origins and developments can be found.
