The Relationship between Learning Achievement in Engineering Drawing and Understanding of Milling Machine Theory on Milling Practice Outcomes

Abstract

This research is riddled by a lack of student competence in drawing techniques and a low understanding of machining theory that results in students' practical outcomes not reaching the standard. This research aims to find out the relationship: (1) learning outcomes of drawing engineering on the results of milling practice; (2) understanding of milling machining theory on the results of milling practice; (3) the learning outcomes of mechanical engineering drawings and understanding of milling machining theory on the results of milling practice. This research is ex post facto research. The population in this study were all students of class XI Mechanical Engineering Department of SMK N 1 Nanggulan as many as 36 students. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, tests and documentation methods. Data analysis technique using descriptive statistical analysis and product moment correlation. The results showed that: (1) there was a positive relationship of learning achievement technical drawings to the results of practices frais r calculate > r table by 0.352 > 0.329; (2) there is a positive relation of understanding the theory of machining frais to the results of practices frais r calculates > r table by 0.0471 > 0.329; (3) There is a positive relationship of learning achievement of mechanical engineering drawings and the understanding of frais machining theory with the practical results of frais r calculate > r table of 0.523 > 0.339.
