Effectiveness of CNC Lathe Practice Learning Using Swansoft Application on Concept Understanding of SMK Piri Sleman Students

All students have not yet fully mastered the concept of operating a CNC lathe. There are students who still have difficulty doing assignments because the machines in the CNC laboratory do not meet factory standards. One of the vocational schools in Sleman has never implemented the Swansoft application in machining engineering learning activities and there are only 15 computers that can install the application. This study aims to (1) obtain information on how high the average value is for the effectiveness of using Swansoft in CNC lathe practice activities; (2) obtain information on how high the average score is for student's understanding of CNC lathe machining engineering concepts using Swansoft application-based learning media; and (3) determine the influence of the effectiveness of CNC lathe practical learning using the Swansoft application on the understanding of the concept of CNC lathe machining techniques for SMK Piri Sleman students. This descriptive study uses quantitative descriptive and correlational methods. The population and sample in this research were 9 students of class XI Machining Engineering at SMK Piri Sleman. This is because of the 9 students represent the entire population. The data collection method uses a questionnaire with 13 statements and a written test in the form of 8 essay questions. This study result empirical evidence that: (1) the average value of the effectiveness of using Swansoft in CNC lathe practical activities was obtained at 92.19 in the very high category; (2) the average score for students' understanding of the concept of CNC lathe machining techniques using the Swansoft application-based learning media was 8.35 in the medium category; and (3) there is a positive influence on the effectiveness of CNC lathe practical learning using the Swansoft application on the understanding of CNC lathe machining techniques concepts for SMK Piri Sleman students (r = 0.621).
