Abstract

Mahasiswa tingkat akhir sebagai calon lulusan perlu memiliki kesiapan karier yang adaptif meliputi kemampuan untuk merencanakan, mengeksplorasi, mengontrol, serta menunjukkan kepercayaan diri dalam menghadapi tuntutan dan perubahan karier. Optimisme, sebagai pandangan positif terhadap masa depan diyakini sebagai salah satu faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap kemampuan tersebut. Namun, penelitian yang mengkaji peran optimisme dalam memprediksi career adaptability beserta dimensi-dimensinya masih terbatas, khususnya pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran optimisme sebagai prediktor career adaptability pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain survei. Penelitian ini melibatkan 134 mahasiswa tingkat akhir sarjana dan sarjana terapan yang diambil menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skala Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS) dan Life Orientation Test-Revised versi Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa optimisme berperan sebagai prediktor career adaptability. Optimisme juga berperan dalam memprediksi tiga dari empat dimensi career adaptability: career concern, career curiosity, dan career confidence. Namun, optimisme tidak memprediksi dimensi career control.
