Strategi imaginatif-analitis dalam memahami paribasan dan provebs
Abstract
This article suggests and illustrates two strategies as the act of reading in decoding proverbs, that is, conceptual based memory to amplify background knowledge and conceptual metaphor hypothesis to work on propositional analysis. Since proverbs are undechiperable at a glance, they require life experience to trace culturally sedimented m e m o r y and analytical tools to grasp the mind deposited in propositions. Background knowledge unlocks imagination to play and analytical analysis provide space f or free interplay, then they meet in the horizon of understanding, free play of imagination. Some parallel English provebs and paribasan (Javanese provebs) are given as examples.
