Performance studies dalam perfomativitas ritual di Jawa Tengah
Abstract
Performance studies has been aplicated to do the research on rituals of Jawa Tengah as a performance. Through performance studies, ritual is analyzed from the standpoint of "is" and "as" performance. Performance studies focus on the performativity aspects of ritual without neglecting the expressitivity aspects of it. At the same time, the ritual is a liminal process where the anti structure society has
occurredand created the concept of communitas.The peakof performativity lies in the climax of the performance where. Ritual is a multi-layered entities; so that semiotic approach is required to analyze the meaning of each layer. Semiotic approach is appropriate to explain the meaning of the physical elements of performance and the performance as a form ofactivities as well.
