Pemikiran Orang Jawa ketika membaca tanda-tanda zaman
Abstract
This article demonstrates that the indeterminableness has a pivotal position in the structure of the Javanese mind. In wayang mythology e.g., Semar bears the idea of that indeterminable position, i.e. the jumbuhing kawula Gusti. The author argues that the Javanese kingship is homologous with this position, and it bears the paradox of being indeterminable. Due to the centrality of the Javanese kingship in people's daily life, this article recalls its theoretical and practical implication in understanding how rituals and history are being constructed in Jawa.
